On Thursday, a woman who was in possession of 14 ready-to-be-issued home affairs asylum documents in Maltzan Street near Luttig Street, was arrested by the Pretoria West police.
According to Police spokesperson Constable Sibongile Vuma the woman told them that foreign nationals, who are already on the home affairs database, pay R600 to get the documents. Those who are not on the database pay R1 200 or more.
The woman when questioned on what she was doing with the documents and blank home affairs papers, she allegedly admitted that they were fraudulent.
Vuma said the suspect will soon appear in the Pretoria magistrate’s court for fraud. The suspect was also found with an amount of R67 700, which was confiscated as evidence.
