Polelo Jacob Huma, a 31 year old visual artist, from Soshanguve He has shared that he started being a visual artist at an early age when he didn’t have a clue of what art meant. “I discovered my talent when I was six years old, my teacher gave us an art work assignment and my work came out impressive that my teacher shared the work with other kids and teachers and everyone celebrated me” he said.
He describes himself as a very determined and passionate individual in visual art and he bealives that everything in this world is drawn before it become reality “What inspired me to persue art is that the moment I got involved in art competitions and in the indrustry as a whole, I started to see the value of art, Almost everything in this world is the about art, everything that we see today was drawn before they were manufactured” he said.
He was one of the top 20 finalist big art master competition in 2018, in 2019, he took third place at Inkomo Village and he also shared that he won another competition in Soshanguve Crossing mall” I still want to win other art competitions in the near future” he said.
The talented lad has a dream of being recognised nationally and internationally and to grow within the visual art industry. Polelo said that apart from his passion for art, there are other visual artists that inspires him to continue with being a visual artist “there are a lot of artists that inspires me namely Steve Maphoso, Steven Langa, Nelson Makamo, Thabiso Thabethe and others, and even myself, I inspire myself to do more art work because I normally speak about things that not all artists do speak about, I challenge things”he explained.
