Double Identity Event Planners was founded by twin sisters Nthabiseng and Thabiso Nong (23) in 2016 while studying at the Tshwane University of Technology. They grew up in Limpopo (Bokgomo) and then moved to Pretoria (Soshanguve) in 2014. In 2016 they started planning and decorating small parties for families and friends. Neither of them was it their dream to start a business. The two sisters at first did not take their passion for beautiful things serious as they were too focused on completing their studies.
Mid 2016, the ambitious sisters then started to take their talent to the next level when they realised that the support structure from family and friends is strong and very encouraging. After realising their passion for decorating and beautiful things, they drew up a business plan and ventured into business. “People love and like what we do and we also love making people feel special”.
From there they had to come up with a name for their business, the one that will represent them both and that’s when they invented the name DOUBLE IDENTITY EVENT PLANNERS. They now knew that they had to give their best effort to make their business succeed despite the challenges that come with starting a business. “We had to bunk classes, ask our parents for money and plan events” says Thabiso.
Early 2017 the twins started distributing hardcopy posters for marketing and recognition everywhere, including having them circulate on different social networks. Today DOUBLE IDENTITY EVENT PLANNERS has more clients and caters for parties, picnics, dinners, baby showers and more.
The business aims to satisfy the needs of clients, to give them the best quality events and to keep them happy. Despite the fact that clients sometimes drop them the day before the event and do not pay the full amount due, the aspiring sisters do not give up and believe that in business sometimes you either win or lose. Their theme for this freedom month is inspired by the colours pink and white as well as blue and white, in celebration of a “FREE BRIGHTFUL COUNTRY”.
The twin sisters believe that everyone has talent and one needs more courage and support to show it. “It always seems impossible until it is done, so get up, dress and show the world what you are really made off”.
