Tshwane Metro Police Department Tactical Unit team busted 3 suspects (one South African and two Mozambicans) with stolen cargo on the 4th of March 2022 around Mamelodi East. The team got some anonymous information and tips that there was some illegal selling of signal tower batteries happening around and decided to follow up on issue by following the suspect meeting with buyers of the signal tower batteries at three locations.

On the first two locations, nothing was found then later found 6 tower batteries, 4 solar panels, 6 South African identity documents and other documents with 8 bank cards at the third location around Mamelodi East when the suspect came driving a white bakkie.

The suspects were arrested on the spot for possession of stolen goods and cargo,” Community members are always affected by poor cell phone networks connections due to high theft of signal tower batteries because of such thieves,” commented one member of the TMPD .

The suspects are expected to appear in court soon. The community members are encouraged to report any illegal activities going around the community to the nearest police station and should not be afraid, “we need the community to work with us so we can all stop the illegal activities so any illegal and wrong activities happening should be reported for a better safe community.”
