THREE KILLED, ONE AIRLIFTED, MULTIPLE INJURED IN PRETORIA CRASH.
Just after 4pm on Wednesday Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to reports of a serious collision on Garsfontein road in the Bashewa area of Pretoria. Upon our arrival it was found that a bakkie collided head on with a tipper-truck transporting sand. Five patients were found entrapped in the bakkie.
With the assistance of GPG, VEMRU, Tshwane Fire Department and other private services the patients were stabilized and carefully extricated from the vehicle. Two patients sustained fatal injuries upon impact, a third unfortunately died as soon as he was extricated.
A seriously injured patient was transported by road and a critically injured male patient was handed over to ROCKET HEMS aeromedical helicopter for transportation to a specialist facility.
The truck driver sustained minor injuries only.
