THE VOICE OF THE PEOPLE.

Patrick Gubayi is a passionate MC and community leader originally from Zebediela and now based in Pretoria. He discovered his love for being an MC at church where he was afforded the platform to showcase his talent. “My passion is making people laugh and enjoying themselves during an event.” He says. He donates part of proceeds from his gigs to charity. He also has a campaign called Zebediela Back to School where he donates shoes and sanitary pads.

He grew up commentating local soccer tournaments and he says the highlight of his career is being asked to commentate in a tournament hosted by former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana soccer legend Morgan Gould. In the past he has made donations to Mogoto Primary School and Tintela Primary School as well as two other schools from Mamelodi. He says after the Easter holidays he will be making donations to one of the primary schools in Zebediela alongside Mmatsela Moselakgomo and Owen Sathosa.

Gubayi says when he started the campaign the plan was to donate shoes but he later discovered that girls struggle with sanitary towels as well. He is a firm believer that no child should go to school hungry and a girl child should miss school because of lack of sanitary towels.
