Soshanguve vocalist, performing gospel artist, songwriter and instrumentalist has become a force to be reckoned with in the gospel music industry.  Godfrey Siyangaphi Mahlangu, known to his fans as Kort Kort which stems from producing hits every now and then with the Tshwane Gospel Choir. He s a versatile musician with a distinctly strong and melodic voice that thrills listeners and gospel fans. 

“I am the 3rd child of Bishop Mahlangu and Leah Skhosana. As a Pastors Kid, music was introduced to me at a tender age when I was only 9-years old playing the keyboard at my fathers’ church,” He said.

Mahlangu puts a lot of soul to his performances and gospel music, with his uniquely deep yet smooth voice that sets him apart from a host of gospel singers. The 35-years old award winning gospel artist has come a long way as he was as a taxi driver and today he is an award winning gospel worshipper, mandated to bring heaven on earth through vocals.

“From a Taxi driver to an Award winner! I used to drive a taxi from station to Rosslyn when I bumped into the Auditions tsa Tshwane Gospel Choir 2009 kodi L Christ Centered church that’s where it all started,” Mahlangu said. The multi-talented and god fearing artist is the longest serving effervescent member of the 2018 South Africa’s Best Gospel Group Tshwane Gospel Choir (TGC).

Mahlangu has his eyes set on becoming South Africa’s next biggest musical sensation. “not so long ago, just last week I was called by the King Makhosoke to Celebrate more than 16 years yabondabezitha in one place,” Mahlangu said. The Gospel singer, Mahlangu, just grabbed SABC Crown Award where he was nominated with the gospel legend Dumi Mkostad who has been taking the award all these years.

“I just Won one of the biggest Awards for best traditional gospel song at the SABC Crowns Gospel Music Awards and I was nominated with Dumi Mkostad, and I was so humble to be celebrated by King Makhosoke the 2nd alongside with 25 other kings engonyameni kwanzunza,” he added. Mahlangu said that his music had him work with numerous gospel maestros such as Sipho Makhabane, the late Sfiso Ncwane, Dr Winnie Mashaba, Babsy Mlangeni and the USA international award winning James Fortune, Donnie Mcclurkin and the 2019 Presidential inauguration.

The music artist is Well-known for hits such as “Mo Okamedi”, “Mehlo abona,” “Akathengwa,” “Taba Tsa Hae ke Lesedi”, and “Sigijime”. He is also an award winner as he has bagged himself SACRA 2013 award for “Best Gospel. “One of my greatest highlights in life was the duet with South Africa’s gospel Queen Mother Dr Rebecca Malope on a song called Unamandla,” he mentioned. “To the upcoming Artist if you going to wait for a political connection to start to fulfill your dreams or wait for the perfect time to start doing what you were born to do unfortunately you will wait forever,” Kort Kort concluded.
