SIX MINING SUSPECTS TO APPEAR IN COURT.
National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana says five of the six men arrested for alleged illegal mining will return to the Carletonville Magistrates Court on Tuesday. Accused number five, Dumisani Moyo, was out on bail after he appealed his bail at the Pretoria High Court. The men, who were arrested in Carletonville and Khutsong in October, were accused of buying illegally mined gold covered in soil.
They faced charges including fraud, possession of ammunition, and two counts of charges related to the Immigration Act. Five of the men remained behind bars, while one was out on bail. The matter was previously postponed for further investigations.
