Sisters in seminar foundation in association with Family in Christ held its 2nd annual Youth Empowerment Seminar at Mamelodi West community hall on Saturday, 17 August 2019. The seminar is aimed at empowering the youth in Mamelodi through conversation surrounding Gender Based Violence, entrepreneurship, and sharing key points on how one can equip themselves to realise their potential.
It also afforded local acts an opportunity to showcase their talent. Founder of Sisters in Seminar Foundation, Thapelo Makopo, says he hopes the seminar inspires the youth in his community to believe in themselves and affirmation, that if the celebrities that they look up to can achieve their dreams, so they can.
Amongst the motivational speakers was Principal Mbelengwane, from Vukani Mawethu Secondary school who encouraged the youth in attendance to believe in themselves and that they shouldn’t let their current situation or background discourage them from following their dreams.
Poets and Clique dance crew entertained guests however it was Vukani Mawethu Secondary school choir that stole the show. Another great performance was by Ekzotic music who had everyone on their feet and singing along.
The Sisters in Seminar foundation also run community outreach programs where they donate sanitary pads, clothes, food and other essential for vulnerable communities around Mamelodi.
