RESIDENTS RAISE CONCERNS OVER UPCOMING ELECTIONS.
On Wednesday, the 20th of October 2021. Residents of Tshwane raised their grievances following the upcoming local government elections that will commence November 2021. Residents have said that their leaders promises better municipal services but tend to fail to deliver them when they obtain their leadership positions after elections.
The president of the country, Cyril Ramaphosa pleads with residents to give ANC another chance. The president said that the party is willing to rectify previous failure in delivering adequate municipal services to residents.
Pabalelo Mehlape, one of the residents “NO, I don’t think there is any contesting party that deserve my vote, voting is for those who experienced changes I’ve been voting for the previous years hoping there will be change in our country but no things keep on getting worse. During voting seasons there are rallies taking place whereby we are told & promised certain things like, employment, clean water, electricity, better houses etc but after voting non of those promises are fulfilled hence I don’t see a reason to vote,”
Another source said that “Our leaders have failed to deliver good services to us. We spend weeks and weeks without water. We live in shacks, they promised us RDP’s two year ago. We are unemployed, some of us have families to feed but due to job losses that occurred during the first lockdown badly affected us and our leaders didn’t do anything about it, although they try to launch skills development programmes but you’d find that they only accommodate 10 people or less. I am struggling to get jobs because of not having qualifications.”
