Kagiso Maluleke 24 years old known as Soul KG is a dj and a producer from Mamelodi east extention 17 but he was born in Hammanskraal Ga-Motla. He started his music journey in 2009 when he was still in high school as a dj and later started to produce his own music. Soul KG has always loved music from a very young age as he used to sing in primary school. He is inspired by Dj Black coffee. “I really like Dj Black coffee, look up to him, always listen to what he says and I want to be like him.” He says.
He makes music from what he sees in the outside world and his experiences. The Dj’s biggest challenge is not getting enough gigs and recognition as a local artist. Due to high competition in the industry the young dj and producer works hard to make good music and promote it online for people to recognise him.
“Music is all about patience and it is not easy but be willing to learn, perfect your own craft and be unique.” He says. He dreams of collaborating with artists like Kabza de Small, Black Coffee, Maphorisa and Zakes Bantwini. He has released two Amapiano, commercial House EP’s and has been releasing singles from the two projects. He also plans to release his latest Amapiano ep called Mature House Grooves Volume 1.
Since clubs are closed due to the pandemic Soul KG like any other artist is struggling financially as he can’t do his gigs. Making good music and putting it out there and getting as many gigs as he can is his plan once the lockdown is lifted. #ladi_jaja?
