Priddy Ugly recently sparked a social media debate when he stated that Pretoria has been supporting the nation’s hip hop scene in terms of musicians and supporters.
Rappers and supporters from Pretoria, according to Rap Relay, who is considered as one of the top rappers and lyricists in the nation, set the groundwork for Mzansi’s hip-hop scene. The celebrated rapper went to his Twitter profile, to express his ideas. As a community PTA has been supporting RAP for some time, the artists and the supporters, big up yourselves, he wrote in a tweet.
The tweet divided social media users, with some agreeing with him and others citing other parts of the country, such as Johannesburg and Soweto, as the industry’s backbone. “Musically, it’s questionable, but support-wise, you’re not lying,” said @dripoverlord. “I disagree, Soweto has been doing it for me, and I’m not even a Sowetan,” @nk6230 wrote. “True, just need more spots and platforms to showcase this side,” commented @19808AVI.
Priddy Ugly has been in the industry for a long time, dropping bars that have earned him the title of Mzansi’s best lyricist. His title, however, has not stopped trolls and bullies from attacking the rapper, claiming he has been an upcoming artist for the past ten years.
