The Pretoria based, Brooklyn police station has temporarily been closed for decontamination after one of its members tested positive for Covid- 19. The community service centre will be operating from the boardroom at the firearm centre, next to the main building.The telephone lines at the Brooklyn police station community service centre can be accessed by phoning 012 366 1827 for the duration of the closure.
“The building will be undergoing decontamination and the community will be informed when the station will be operational again,” SAPS said in a statement. “The SAPS management apologises for any inconvenience that may arise from this.”
The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), a division of the National Health Laboratory Service, reports that 7,657 new COVID-19 cases have been identified in South Africa, representing a 17.2 percent positivity rate. This brings the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases to 1,747,082.
“The majority of new cases today are from the Gauteng province (64%), followed by the Western Cape (9%) and North West (7%) provinces,” NICD said in the report. “This brings everything to a total increase of 632 hospital admissions and 78 in-hospital deaths which have been reported in the past 24 hours.”Other important numbers for the station are: Visible policing commander 082 568 4673, Head of detectives 082 338 1863 and Duty officer 082 498 9442.
