MAMELODI POLICE CONDEMN MOB JUSTICE AFTER TWO SUSPECTS ARE ASSAULTED TO DEATH.

After three people were allegedly assaulted by angry Skierlik residents in the area on Tuesday, Mamelodi police issued a warning to the community not to resort to mob justice. Mavela Masondo, a spokesperson for the Gauteng police, said two of the victims died at the scene, while the third was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

“No one is above the law, and no one has the right to beat or kill someone simply for committing a crime,” Mamelodi police said. Residents of Skierlik had complained to the police about a group of people assaulting three men, he said.

“The police arrived quickly and discovered a large group of community members standing on the railway,” Masondo said. The police were able to disperse the crowd and enter the crime scene after more police and TMPD officers arrived. In a video circulated on social media, two of the victims can be seen lying on the ground, one of whom appears to have been set alight.

The community was advised to call the cops after apprehending suspects, hand them over to the cops, and let the law take its course. Residents are urged to call the police at 08600 10111 to report any crimes.
