A Mamelodi girl has been chosen to compete in the American Dance Awards Nationals, which will be held in Florida in the United States. Mpumelelo Matjebe (10) of Mamelodi West, section C3, qualified to represent South Africa in the national dance competition after excelling in the Junior Acrobatic Grade 7. She is expected to take part from July 4 until July 10.
Rhoda, her mother, described her daughter as a gifted and motivated girl who enjoys gymnastics and acrobatics. Mpumelelo began chasing her goal at a local studio named Magic Moon Studio when she was eight years old.
She has won numerous medals in various competitions, including studio contests, Dance International competitions, and the American Dance Awards competition.”It will be an honor to be able to realize my ambition at such a young age, and it will inspire many young children,” Mpumelelo added.
However, the tournament is not fully funded, and Mpumelelo will need R52 000 to participate in the trip. Return flights from South Africa to the United States, transportation, hotel accommodations, registration and participation costs, and SA tracksuits are all included in the funds. A three day workshop will be held to help them improve their skills, and it will be led by prominent worldwide choreographers.
Anyone interested in helping Mpumelelo Matjebe should contact her mother, Rhonda.
