KCC OPENS ANOTHER BRANCH AS PART OF COMMEMORATING YOUTH DAY.

Kgomotso Mphela (31), well known as “madam speaker” from Soshanguve, Block NN, is the founder of Kgomotso Children Center (KCC). The main aim of this organization is to help flatten gender based violence and to support children to grow up with dignity and purpose. To celebrate the memorable day, 16 June, she will be hosting an awareness raising event of bikers riding against GBV, since GBV is our second pandemic.

Mphela is the founder of Gauteng women’s forum that deals with issues of rape, prevention programme, empowerment programme and psychological support for victims of different issues faced in our country. “Youth of 1976 played a significant role to ensure we’re not subjected to inferior education. It is important for me to take part in fighting the pandemic of gender based violence and break the silence,” she said.

KCC is a non- profit organization which was established in 2007, when she was 17 years old and was officially registered in 2011. The motive behind this organization was driven by what she faced, being a victim of rape at the age of 8 years. Furthermore, she said that, from then, she saw a need to take it upon herself to prevent children from getting involved in issues of rape, abuse, substance abuse, crime and prostitution.

People can expect bikers which will be riding from the center premises at Block NN ending at the event venue in Wintenveldt. BMW club, Gold club, Brass band. Children and youth from the center will be performing drama, variety of dances, poetry, performances from local artists and they will also be launching second aftercare center branch.

In conclusion she said “hoping the launch to be a success and to open more doors for children in need”. Her center caters for over 300 children around Soshanguve and Wintenveldt. Her work has been noticed by different sectors. In 2015 she won the award for best woman of the year, and traveled to Germany, France doing an empowerment programme. She was featured on TV shows like big up, my beautiful Kasi, growing tomorrow, radios and magazines. #ladi_jaja?
