IDAH’S ACADEMIC AWARDS TO HONOR CLASS OF 2021.
The Eugene Modise Foundation is to present Idah’s academic awards on Saturday, 29 January 2022. The event will be hosted at Mzansi Resort (formerly known as Morula Sun) to honor hardworking 2021 matriculants. Idah Rakale, a founding member of the non-profit Atlegang Community Project, came up with the idea for Idah’s Academic Awards in 2016 after seeing the necessity of recognizing and motivating kids who thrive in the face of adversity.
She felt obligated to call on fellow entrepreneurs and business people inside the Mabopane Network Forum because she is an entrepreneur and a community leader. For the past six years, the forum, which is primarily made up of Mabopane residents, has vigorously supported this project. Each year, the Atlegang Community Project (founded on March 8, 2020) determines ways to exceed their previous success. During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021, the students, who are largely from Mabopane and adjacent areas, have demonstrated remarkable tenacity.
These students not only survived the difficulties that come with studying at home during a pandemic, but they also excelled. It was unforeseeable that students would find themselves at home, expected to continue their education by enrolling in online classes. The majority of these pupils lacked access to computers, let alone the internet. It was with the generous sponsorship of Mr Phatudi Maponya, a long-standing member of the Mabopane Network Forum, that selected learners were donated laptops and tablets for their education.
The event will start from 14h00 and is sponsored by Mr Eugene Modise of the Eugene Modise Foundation, also a member of the Mabopane Network Forum.
