HOMZA MUSIQ MAKES IT TO THE TOP 3 OF SABC1 1’S AND 2’S.

25-year-old Gomotsegang Lekala, popularly known by his stage name, Homza Musiq, means business and has proven that with multiple nominees and his consitency as a DJ in most shows. Born and bred in Soshanguve, he is one of the best mixers and upcoming DJ’s and he is not afraid to go after his dreams. The young DJ realising how good he was at mixing songs led him to take it further when in 2021 he entered the competition which gives DJ’s a chance to showcase their talent called 1s and 2s on SABC 1 every Sunday at 18:00.

“It wasn’t an easy challenge because we were 12 contestants but I’m grateful that I made it to top 3, all I’m asking for is the spread of Homza Musiq so that people can vote for me from the whole Gauteng because a win for me is a win to us all,” he explained.

His thriving DJ skills and love for music was inspired by his brother Nicholas Chauke. “My brother saw the love I have for music and the commitment I have,” he said. After a few lessons with Nicola that is when I realised that I am extremely good and I can master all genres,” he explained.

Homza said that his love for music started at a young age as he started playing in the year 2012 when he was only 16-years old. From a young age, he surrounded himself with music. The DJ, Producer, dancer and percussionist said he has a dream of opening his very own record label. “My goal is to open my own record label and sign upcoming producers who see music as a career not a hobby,” Homza said.

He said he believes in giving back to his community by grooming upcoming local artists so he features them to promote them and their work. He says he is inspired by Black Motion because they love music and never allowed their background to determine what is ahead of them.  “They encourage me that in life you should do what makes you happy and also to follow your dreams,” he stated.

“To vote for Homza on 1’s and 2’s SMS “VOTE 3” to 45881, SMS charged at R1.50 and people can vote as much as they want to, it caps at about 20 votes per cellphone number. NB: 13/June/ 2021.” He concluded.
