GETTING TO KNOW THE BIG BROTHER MZANSI CONTESTANTS.
It has been seven years since Big Brother Mzansi aired, and on Sunday the 23rd of January 2022, a total of18 housemates walked into the camera house for the premiere of season 5.
Over a period of 71 days, contestants – “housemates” aged between 21 and 31 will compete to be the last one standing, with the winner being announced on April 3rd at 18:00.
The Big Brother Mzansi housemates are;
Adinudu Asuzu, is a 21 year old from Johannesburg who is the youngest housemate this season and describes himself as a bubbly and mellow person.
Gugu Refiloe Bonga, is a 26 year old Joburger and adult content creator with a big personality. She believes in acceptance and non judgement of others.
Keamogetswe Motlhale is a self proclaimed tomboy from Mahikeng aged 23.
Gershwin Brand Mthombeni is a 28 year old male from Pretoria who considers himself to be a deep thinker with many talents and interests.
Libo Njomba was born in Uitehage, currently based in Johannesburg. He is a 32 year old who refers to himself as a lover of life who enjoys the outdoors.
Luthando Mthembu, 31, is an aspiring musician who quit his job in corporate to follow his artistic dreams.
27-year-old Michelle Dimpho Mvundla is a sangoma from Daveyton who describes herself as kind and outgoing, however has little patience for nonsense.
Mvelo Ntuli is from Johannesburg. He is passionate about education and has a general love for people.
Norman Nhlapo is a day care worker from Johannesburg, the 24-year-old is a sporty person, with an adaptable personality
Naledi Magadime is a 24-year-old from Pretoria, she is a model who finds her strength to be in understanding people.
Rethabile Potsane is a 29-year-old fashion lover from Johannesburg, who describes herself as loud and proud.
Thando Mati is a 30-year-old from Soweto. She is family oriented and regards herself as a free spirit and risk – taker.
Thato Mokeona from Vaal is a 28-year-old TikToker and accountant who refers to herself as “a world within worlds”
Themba Karabo Mokoena is a 30-year-old tattoo artist from Johannesburg who likes to think of himself as “simple”, “basic” and “normal” despite his out of the ordinary appearance.
Hailing from Richards Bay, Thobeka Mtshali is a creative who writes music, plays piano, and makes beats.
28-year-old Thulani Maolala is a former radio DJ from Johannesburg who says he has a softness beneath his tough exterior.
Ukho Samela aka Sis Tamara is a 25 year old from Johannesburg who gets goes by the pronouns he/him/she/her/they/them. Trans and queer representation are something that they are deeply passionate about.
And finally, 30-year-old Durbanite Yolanda Glover describes herself as a “Berocca without the medicine”
M – Net director of local entertainment channels, Shirley Adonis congratulated the new housemates on an experience unlike any other and one which will undoubtedly change many of their lives.
