DEFINITION OF A SLAY QUEEN AND THEIR TRENDS.
When it comes to being beautiful, people have their own preferences. Some prefer to look natural. They prefer varying looks from dreadlocks, cornrows and afro hair. Meanwhile others prefer the artificial look, which is not a bad thing! According to an online definition, artificial beauty means using an artificial method to enhance your appearance so that you can meet the beauty standard of the society. Artificial beauty is commonly achieved through surgery.
People go as far as undergoing a surgery for what we refer to as permanent make up. Permanent make up is defined as a cosmetic technique which employs tattoos as means of producing designs that resemble makeup, such as eye lining and other permanent enhancing colors to the skin of the face, lips, and eyelids.
Artificial beauty has its disadvantages and advantages. One of its disadvantages is that it can cause skin damage, allergic responses and contamination. It is also good because it gives a person their desired look. Like a tattoo, when you have a permanent makeup you are good to go, even if you just took a shower. It is unlike traditional makeup because you can swim without it getting wiped off. One can also change the colors of their permanent make up. This cosmetic technique can last up to 3 to 5 years, depending on the specific shade used.
Most of the time, celebrities are the ones that opt for make up because they have to look a certain way. They want to have a signature look that only belongs to them. Skin bleaching is when a person uses skin lightening products, such as creams, pills and injections to get rid of the melanin. This cosmetic technique is mostly common to celebrities.
Khanyi Mbau is among the few celebrities that did skin lightening. In an article that was published by www.timeslive.co.za, Khanyi explained the difference between skin bleaching and skin lightening. She said “People that bleach their skin have brown spots. And their skin tends to go orange close to an albino color. It’s not supposed to go an albino color, but hers does because she tends to overdo everything in life”.
Weaves and wigs are a girl’s best friend nowadays. Ladies wants to look nice with their 18 inch long Peruvian and Brazilian hair. Most women prefer this kind of look because they don’t like their natural look. They even say when they don’t have their wigs on, they don’t feel beautiful. These types of ladies are referred to as “slay queens”. They have artificial everything. It is not a negative thing because that is how they want to present themselves to the society.
There is no harm done when one want to look artificial or natural because that will be their own preference.
