The Bokamoso Life Centre is a recognized NPO in Winterveldt, South Africa. The Winterveldt Youth Centre provides educational and social services to young men and women between the ages of 17 and 25, who live in the Winterveldt region. The Centre is a safe haven where youth may go to classes, get counseling, use computers, practice music, dance, and eat nutritious meals.
They felt obligated to respond to some of Winterveldt’s most pressing issues. It is approximately 35 miles northwest of Pretoria, South Africa’s administrative capital. Winterveldt has been plagued with a 50% unemployment rate, violence, abusive relationships, narcotics, and overcrowded, poor schools as a township. HIV/AIDS has orphaned a huge portion of the community’s youth, and it affects nearly a quarter of the population of Winterveldt.
Bokamoso care centre NPO was found by Stephen and MaryAnn Carpenter, a doctor and nurse who live and work in the town, Bokamoso has provided continual service to the community. Bokamoso’s Youth Development Program has graduated over 1,300 young people since its establishment. Through the Cultural Exchange and Performing Arts Program, over 270 young people have had the opportunity to visit the United States. Over 235 Winterveld,youth have received more than 400 scholarships since 2008.
