••• Entertainment Dose With Mawisa Q & A •••

Q. Welcome to @Tsa_Pitori Online Magazine, how are you doing today?
A. Hello @Tsa_Pitori, thank you for having African Smoothie, we are forever good.

Q. Kindly mention the faces behind African Smoothie?
A. The faces behind African Smoothie are Oliver Rantseli, Kebaabetswe Rihlampfu and Bohlale Rantseli.

Q. How did African Smoothie come about?
A. African Smoothie came about in a very interesting way, it was Boxing Day (26 December 2016) when we were sitting at my cousins friends place having drinks, he then brought us African beer (Mqombothi) to sip while we sat there talking about life and it’s challenges, I then had a brainwave of bringing African beer to the market but in a different way to what is commonly found when we celebrate and thank our ancestors and the rest was history.

Q. What are some of the challenges you have faced while running African Smoothie?
A. The biggest challenge that we are confronted with is people shying away from the smoothie because of where it comes from and the type of people it’s associated with, not giving it a chance for what it has developed to be.

Q. With that said share your joys with African Smoothie?
A. African Smoothie is taking the beverage scene by storm, it’s creative and innovative concept, I love seeing people’s expressions when they have their first taste cause it’s like nothing you’ve had before, it has an acquired taste.

Q. Name a few places you have showcased African Smoothie and how has people received it?
A. We have showcased African Smoothie at the Easy Saturday Street Food Market and Craft Beer in the East Rand and also at this incredible burger joint in Tembisa called SnackBoss.

Q. African smoothie has a variety of flavors, please mention them for me?
A. At the moment our best sellers are the bubble gum and banana flavored smoothie

Q. Kindly share a word of motivation for upcoming entrepreneurs.
A. If you have an idea that you really believe in, make sure you put in your all into your effort to make it a reality, it’s never easy to start something from the ground, and you are going to fail a few times before you get it right, don’t give up on your dreams.

Q. How can people access African Smoothie? Is it in stores as yet?
A. African Smoothie at this point in time is found at flea and pop up markets at our stand or when there’s events where we are invited to set up, we are trying to explore as many markets as possible in and around Gauteng for now.

Q. Anything we have left out that we didn’t converse about in regards to African Smoothie?
A. We’d like to thank the people that have supported African Smoothie from day one, we’d like to take this moment to thank everyone who has heard and spoken about African Smoothie, you are the people that make us appreciate what we do, and why we do it.

••• The End •••

Indeed entrepreneurship isn’t for the faint hearted. Who would have thought modernizing ‘Umqombothi’ will be their bread and butter? We all have fond memories of ‘Umqomboti’ as it’s no taboo to most respective families.
I applaud Kebaabetswe Rihlampfu and team for venturing in this new market. It clearly shows one has to implement their dreams irrespective of their present circumstances.

She concludes our chat by defining what ‘success’ is to her and this is what she said ‘In my definition, success is what you set it to be, if you set goals and you meet them then you’ve reached success’

With that said let’s meet on the next installment of Entertainment Dose with Mawisa.
Nothing but God’s love, peace and blessings upon you all. Love Mawisa.
