THE BIRTH OF MZANSI RESORTS.

Fire works went up on Saturday, 31st October, as Mzansi Resorts formerly known as Morula Sun Casino and Hotel, and in the recent past known as Gold Rush, situated in the north west of Pretoria, Mabopane township was officially launched for business. The gala dinner was attended by political and corporate leaders, entrepreneurs, socialites and esteemed members of society. The host Dr John Tibane opened the event with an array of excitement as this marked a great milestone in the history of Mabopane and township economy where community members took over management of the venue.

Bonzo Thipe Modise, a businessman from Mabopane, together with his associates took over the management of the establishment under the banner Mzansi Resorts. “It was a given to invest in this establishment. This place is of sentimental value to me as I grew up coming here for entertainment.” Said Modise. He grew up in Mabopane and is still a resident and has a solid business track record of over 30 years in construction and security.

Renovations are underway with the hotel and restaurant completed and open for business. “Future plans are to turn Mzansi Resorts in to tourists attraction for the people of Mabopane and the entire South Africa, creating jobs and business opportunities for the locals.” said Modise. Further plans are to have the conference room and facility fully functional, adding more swimming pools and expanding the kids area.

The MEC of Gauteng Economic, Agricultural and Rural Development, Morakane Mosupyoe welcomed the intiative as great step of significance in the economy of Mabopane and the history of tourism as the hotels industry is dominated by white monopoly capital. “We as govenment are in full support and will assist where possible. We hope the resort will employ more youth and women, and become a hub for hotel management training in colaboration with the nearby hotel school in Garankuwa”. Said Mosupyoe. #ladi_jaja?
