Start-up businesses deserve an opportunity to be educated about the corporate world and be made aware of the challenges that lie ahead. Startup Grind was established to educate inspire and connect entrepreneurs within the City of Tshwane, it is the largest independent startup community actively educating and connecting more than 1.5 million entrepreneurs in over 500 chapters. This initiative was established in February 2010 globally and Startup Grind Pretoria was started on the 7th of February 2017.
Monde Zuma who is the Director of Startup Grind Pretoria chapter, said that the aim of the event is to educate their community about various topics within the entrepreneurial ecosystem and to have them learn from successful local founders, innovators, educators and investors who share lessons learned on the road to building great companies. This event will connect entrepreneurs with a room of an average of 75 entrepreneurs from different industries and different parts of Pretoria, allowing them to network and share ideas.
“Inspired by the challenges faced daily by entrepreneurs and the hard journey we are walking, we want each person to be inspired by those whom have walked or are walking the hardship” commented Zuma. The world is now changing to the digital space in that case businesses must be also equipped with the knowledge of artificial intelligence in the coming fourth industrial revolution and Startup Grind does just that. It helped millions of entrepreneurs build their businesses, connect with strategic partners and secure funding.
These events are hosted monthly featuring successful local entrepreneurs as guest speakers and this month’s upcoming Startup Grind event is on the 14th of May 2019 at the African Beer Emporium, Pretoria CBD. This initiative nurtures start-up ecosystems in 125 countries through events, media and partnerships with organizations like Google. It targets entrepreneurs and individuals that are within the innovation creation and Artificial intelligence space, but mainly they want to attract start-up businesses both whom are formally and informally trading.
The message that they are conveying to the public is that they want all entrepreneurs to come together to get educated, inspired and connected with professionals. Startup Grind believes in making friends not contacts, in giving but not taking and in helping others before helping yourself. It gives hope to those who want to give up to rather keep in working irrespective of how hard the journey might be.
