SA ATHLETICS GET SPOTLIGHT.

If you thought athletics are only given attention at schools and during Olympics, think again after SABC and ASA(Athletics South Africa) signed a 1 year deal to broadcast SA Senior Athletics Track and Field Championships currently taking place Stellenbosch(Western Cape).  Despite the disappointing news of the fastest man in South African Simon Magakwe getting banned for two years after refusing to take a doping test, the mood wasn’t to be dampened as top athletes booked their place at the World Championships in Beijing in August.

There’s nothing stopping the Bulls except themselves if their form is anything to go by. After winning 17-10 against the Sharks the Bulls remain top of the South African log and move up a notch to be second on the combined log.  Having played most of their home fixtures things are going to get a bit harder soon for our Bulls, let’s hope they’re up for the challenge.

After being humbled and humiliated 5-0 by Celtics in a match that nearly got Pitso admitted in Steve Biko Hospital, Bafana ba style had a chance to lick their wounds with a weekend off due to PSL reshuffling their PSL fixtures to accommodate CAF fixtures.   Matsatsantsa showed mercy on Swallows by sharing a point each with a 1-1 draw, and Tuks lost 2-0 to Ajax. Bhakajuju continued to do Mzansi proud in the CAF Confederations Cup coming from 2-0 down to equalize in the dying minutes, the nation should rally behind Bucs on May 2.

What to look forward to…

It’s the battle of the top SA teams when the Bulls face the Stormers on Saturday(25-04-2015) at Newlands. Leave e fedile(leave has ended) for Downs as they face their voodoo team Dikwena(Platinum Stars) on Wednesday(22-04-2015).  Chiefs could seal their league win when they face Polokwane City also on Wednesday(22-04-2015). Tuks will face Pirates on Friday(24-04-2015). On to Nedbank Cup fixtures Supersport Utd will face Ajax on Saturday(25-04-2015) while Sundowns will face Vasco Da Gama on Sunday(26-04-2015).

Despite our fellow South Africans embarrassing the nation and giving us a bad name in their act of brutality towards our fellow Africans, Gabon still gave Orlando Pirates a warm welcome. They say motho ke motho ka batho, what happened to humanity? We wouldn’t be South Africa if we weren’t in Africa, the Africa name wasn’t appended by mistake. I strongly condemn Xenophobia, let us not blame other people for our failures and work on fixing them.
