Umlilo we Proteas uya shisa ungawu lokothi(Proteas fire is too hot don’t even try to touch it), which is what the Indian team got to learn this past Sunday(25-10-2015). The Proteas’ teamwork was evident as Quinton ‘The Indian Bully’ de Kock, Faf ‘de Crempe(cramps)’ du Plessis, AB ‘Mr 360’ de Villiers all made a hundred runs each to put a huge 438 score against the mighty Indian team. India lost their first ODI series against S.A at home by 241 runs, while Amla became the fastest to 6000 runs in ODI’s.
The Boks got Haka’d after putting the All Blacks under pressure and ending the first half with a penalty generated lead. The Boks remained try-less again in the second half and ended up losing 18-20 against the defending champions New Zealand, I guess the Boks never “tried” to win. Better luck next World Cup, time to rebuild for the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
Bafana lost out on a 2016 CHAN spot despite winning 2-1 against Angola, they lost 3-2 on aggregate. Bafana never took CHAN games serious, they games should’ve been played by Amaglug-glug(U23) instead. Amajimbos were also knocked out of the U17 World Cup after losing 2-0 against Russia, the boys never had it easy as they lost 2-1 against Costa Rica in their opening match, then drew their second match 1-1 against Korea DPR. Qualifying for their maiden World Cup was an achievement on its own, the boys have nothing to be ashamed of.
Following the midweek PSL fixtures it was Telkom Knockout time and this time around the top PSL giants were in no mood to be TKO’d and neither were the defending champs. The first match was between the Pirates and Maritzburg Utd and Bucs won by 2 goals to nil, Chiefs followed suit as they won 2-1 against Aces, the defending champions Matsatsantsa then showed who’s boss when they beat Arrows 3-1, Sundowns then decided to go big or go home as they thumped Free State Stars 6-1. The draw drew derbies, we’ll be served up with a Soweto derby on the 7th of November 2015 followed by a Tshwane derby on the 8th.
The Titans are blowing hot and cold in the Momentum One Day Cup as they won by 7 wickets against Dolphins on Wednesday(21-10-2015) they then later lost by 3 wickets against the Knights. They currently lie fourth on 9 points.
Another loss to the soccer fraternity as we mourn the passing of Ajax Cape Town’s defender Cecil Lolo, Cecil was just at the peak of his career when he met his untimely death in the early hours of Sunday(25-10-2015), may his soul rest in peace.
What to look forward to…
All the teams in possession of the famous “match in hand” will be in action on Tuesday(27-10-2015) and Wednesday(28-10-2015). We are then set for the Soweto Derby on Saturday(31-10-2015) and more fixtures set for Sunday(01-11-2015). The Boks will play Argentina in the 3rd/4th place play-off on Friday(30-10-2015).
