FINA Swimming World Cup Series came to an end this past weekend and Pretoria was on top of the world. Pitori’s(Pretoria’s) finest Cameron Van der Burgh took first position based on points accumulated over a seven leg series. Van der Burgh claimed a whooping $100 000 in style with a 100m breaststroke win, he’s currently on 24 unbeaten streaks in 50m and 100m breaststroke combined. Golden boy Chad le Clos took second position with $50 000 price money after winning 100m butterfly.


Soccer lovers were spoiled with back to back Soweto derbies,  the first match ended in a 3-1 win  plus bragging rights for Pirates  which was a league match, this past weekend in the Telkom Knockout semifinal the win and the bragging rights were overturned when Chiefs won 6-5 on penalties to advance to the final. Pitori’s finest teams Sundowns and Supersport United played the second semifinal in a Tshwane derby, Sundowns were 3-1 victors after an entertaining display of football, Pitori never disappoints. The final will be between Sundowns and Chiefs(Pretoria vs Johannesburg) on 16 December 2015.


Following an impressive ODI series win, the Proteas were brought down to earth in one of the shortest test matches, the match only lasted 3 days. India won the toss chose to bat in a bowler’s dominated match, the highest score was 201. The Proteas lost out by 108 runs, which they plan to overturn in the second match on Saturday(14-11-2015).


It’s Ram Slam T20 Challenge time or should I say 4s and 6s time, and our Titans had a bad start losing to the Dolphins. The Titans have now won two back to back matches against Lions and Cobras respectively, they now lie second on the log behind the Dolphins.


In other news…

It’s international weekend and Bra Shake’s Bafana have jetted off to Angola for their World Cup qualifying match.  Caster Semenya is on the verge of getting two belated gold medals if Mariya Savinova gets stripped off her titles following an alleged systematic drug use in Russian athletics. The Bulls have appointed Hendre Marnitz as the new Currie Cup coach.


What to look forward to…

Bafana will be in Angola to play in a World Cup Qualifier match on Friday(13-11-2015). The Titans will play the Knights on Friday(13-11-2015), then host Warriors on Sunday(15-11-2015). The Proteas will play India in their second test match on Saturday(14-11-2015).
