Ronald DK Nchabeleng in partnership with Mamelodi Music Gallery will be hosting the first additional Mamelodi Music Awards. Ronald is the organiser and co-founder of Mamelodi Music Awards. He and his team promise to bring change for Mamelodi artists. Most of the time, artists from townships are not recognised. They are not taken seriously or into consideration. MMA is initiated to award, appreciate and recognise the talent of Mamelodi artists.
Ronald describes the Mamelodi Township as one of the townships in Pitori that have a lot of talent that needs put out there, recognised and rewarded. He told Tsa Pitori that since this is the first edition of the Mamelodi Music Awards, entrants will be from Mamelodi only. He said for the second edition and going forward, they will expand and invite the whole of Pretoria to participate in the Awards. Their aim is to bring together every artist from every township of Pitori.
Ronald said they are hoping and want the event to be a success because they are planning to take it to greater heights. They are planning to filling up Mamelodi west Community hall and want the event to happen annually. MMAs will be held on March of every year. “The reason why we opted to host MMA’s in March is because it is the month that gave birth to Mamelodi Music Gallery”-Ronald told Tsa Pitori. Mamelodi Music Gallery.
Coming up with the idea of hosting Music Awards was never easy. Ronald said many people tried to host Mamelodi Music Awards but they did not get very far with the idea. That gave us the gut to give the project our all”-He told Tsa Pitori.
Ronald said the awards means a lot to him, the MMG and people from Mamelodi. He said everyone is happy about this initiative, especially nominees because their work will finally be recognized.
