Led by Minister of Sports Fikile Mbalula, Durban Mayor James Nxumalo, Ethekwini MEC’s, and sports ambassadors triple jump champion Khotso Mokoena, paralympian Dyan Buis and our very own swimmer Cameron De Burgh, the City of Durban Commonwealth bid committee presented an impressive bid to the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) to host the Commonwealth 2022 games, the decision will be made on 2 September 2015. All the best we hosted the Soccer World Cup once so why not?

Oops! Our AB Mdeva(de Villiers) did it again, he broke records, broke hearts and set new records. He now holds the fastest 50, 100 and 150 records. The Proteas made 408 runs the highest of the tournament thus far against the West Indies, we lead they follow as we aim for 500+ against Ireland *impossible is nothing*. I guess the selectors are great followers of my columns as they took my suggestions into consideration when they played Abbot and Rossouw, the boys didn’t disappoint. Can we see Phangiso now just to put our opponents stress levels on stilettos heading into the knockout stages?

Cobras have been doing quite well so far in the Sunfoil Series and are placed 2nd in the log, their loss to the Cobras should just act as wake up call to not relax, they lost by 170 runs to bottom placed Cobras who needed the points more.

After an impressive run in the CAF African Youth Championship having beaten Cameroon 3-1 and Nigeria 1-0 to reach the final Amajimbos had one hand on the trophy, that’s until Mali snatched the trophy with a 2-0 win. Comparing Amajimbos to Bafana would be a slap in the face to them, the country is proud of these boys.

Matsatsantsa a Pitori(Supersport Utd) gave us a face lift(shocked us) this past weekend when they lost 5-2 to Amazulu, never underestimate an ant it can kill an elephant. Tuks beat Aces 2-1, while Pirates sent a message to Chiefs for the El Kasico(Soweto Derby) beating Polokwane City 3-1.

Bafana ba style(Sundowns) were in safari action(CAF Championship) they welcomed St Mitchel only to beat the 3-0(4-1 aggregate)*such cruelty*. Amakhosi(Chiefs) travelled to Botswana to beat Township Rollers 1-0(3-1 aggregate). Wits continue the trend of S.A teams not taking CAF games serious when they were beaten 3-0(3-3 aggregate) and lost 6-5 on penalties.

What to look forward to:

The Proteas will be playing against Ireland tomorrow morning(03-03-2015) at 5:30pm, on Saturday(07-03-2015) will play Pakistan. The Titans will play Dolphins on 12-03-2015 at home. PSL midweek fixtures are on with Sundowns playing Wits tomorrow(03-03-2015) and other top of the tables fixtures are scheduled on Wednesday(04-03-2015). The Soweto derby is on this coming Saturday(07-03-2014) with the other fixtures scheduled later on and on Sunday(08-03-2015). After winning their first match 43-35 against the Sharks, the Bulls will now set their sights on Cheetahs on Saturday(07-03-2015).
