APPLAUSE TO AMAJITA FOR A GLIMPSE TO 2015 AYC.

The South African junior team under twenty has emerged a crucial win after their victory against Ethiopia giving them a glance to compete in 2015 African Youth Championship.

Amajita came out confidently to mark a good start ahead of the next year qualifier after disappearing on the competition spotlight in past years.

The junior team head coach Shakes Mashaba led the team to their first leg 2-0 defeat played at the national stadium in Addis Ababa on Sunday. Goals from Tshepo Chaine and Siyanda Ngubo were enough to give Shakes Mashaba a deserved victory. Both goals were scored in the second half. Amajita missed out on the last version of this tournament hence they will be eager to qualify for this one to allow them to be among the top four teams which by default would qualify for under twenty world cup. With talent and resources we have the boys are likely to qualify for this junior tournament. But unfortunately due to an assortment of reasons we have been falling short in recent years.

 

PSL season finale

Mamelodi Sundowns are the 2013/2014 absa premiership champions. They were officially crowned league champions on Saturday. Masandawana coach Pitso Mosimane became the first black Afrcan coach to win the league since the PSL inception in 1996. Players like Teko Modise and Lebohang Mokoena got their much deserved maiden league medals. The Nedbank cup final between Orlando Pirates and BidVest Wits will give an exciting ending of 2013/2014 South African football season. This game is expected to bring fascinating final- with Pirates expected to take safety measure not to lose their fourth final this season whilst Wits will want to end the season with gold.

 

Rugby

The blitzbokke came second in this year’s world HSBC World Series. The series was won by their bitter rivals New Zealand by 180 points while South Africa only managed 152 points, bringing disappointment when one considers the points difference. The Sharks remained on top of the Super Rugby log despite the loss to the Brumbies during the weekend. However the Bulls managed to win against struggling Stomers side, while Cheetahs and lions also lost their games.
